Comenzó su carrera profesional como fotógrafo del alcalde de Bogotá Antanas Mockus en su Primer periodo de gobierno 1994 -1996; En 1996 formó parte del equipo gráfico de la revista La Nota Económica, luego en 1997 formó parte de la redacción de la revista Cambio 16, Donde Cubrió el conflicto armado colombiano. Entre 1999 y 2000 colaboró con la agencia Reuters, y desde, el 2001, forma parte del grupo de corresponsales de la Agencia France Presse para Latinoamérica, con la que ha cubierto desde el proceso de paz En Colombia hasta los golpes de Estado en Venezuela y Ecuador, desastres naturales como el terremoto de Haití y Manta Ecuador, eventos deportivos como las Diversas versiones de la Copa América, Panamericanos de Guadalajara 2011, Juegos Olímpicos de Invierno en Vancouver 201O, Juegos Olímpicos Londres 2012, Rio 2016 y Tokio 2022. Mundiales de Brasil 2014, Rusia 2018. Fue corresponsal de la AFP en México por seis años, jefe de Fotografía para Colombia hasta el 2018, actualmente ejerce como jefe de fotografía para Centro América. Ganador del Premio de periodismo Simón Bolívar 2012 Finalista del concurso Luces de América de la Revista National Geographic 2004, mejor Fotografía de la the National Press Photographers Association (NPPA) 2016, Award of Excelence del Poy 2016. Ganador en categoría Spot News del POY 2023 Participo en la Expo Fotoperiodismo México 2010 con el reportaje “las quinceañeras del DF” fue parte de los expositores de la restropestiva del conflicto en Colombia en Los jardines de Luxemburgo en Paris, Publico en el libro las mejores fotografías en 100 años de la Agencia France Presse Ha publicado en medios como el New York Times, USA Today, News Week, Le Figaro, Time Magazine, Le Monde entre otros.
